Serve as an experienced individual contributor responsible for the design, operation, and reliability of the container orchestration platform underpinning a large federal enterprise cloud platform
Help meet scope, schedule, and delivery requirements while advancing the platform's Kubernetes practices
Design, operate, and upgrade production Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS, including cluster add-ons (e.g., CoreDNS, kube-proxy, CNI)
Manage cluster lifecycle, version currency, scaling, and standardized node baselines
Engineer cluster networking, ingress, service mesh, and workload isolation across multiple environments
Harden clusters and workloads to meet security and compliance requirements
Automate cluster provisioning and configuration through infrastructure as code (Terraform)
Self-directed design of cloud infrastructure and tradeoffs between cost, reliability, and efficiency
Build reusable modules and improve the developer experience for engineers deploying to the platform
Mentor engineers and present design documents and system diagrams to stakeholders
Participate in technical depth interviews with new candidates
Requirements
Bachelor's and 7+ years of experience; relevant experience may be substituted for education
Demonstrated, expert-level experience operating Kubernetes in production (Amazon EKS preferred)
Expert-level knowledge of at least one infrastructure-as-code tool (Terraform preferred)
Deep command of containerization, networking, and core DevOps concepts
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust / suitability determination
