Ambulatory Care Assistant – MA

Role Overview

• Perform various duties related to patient care and treatment as directed by attending providers
• Provide clerical and clinical support to medical staff in assigned unit
• Provide support to medical staff to assure patients' needs are met
• Assist providers in completing requisitions or forms for patient examination or testing
• Administer prescribed medication under supervision of attending provider
• Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens
• Obtain and document patients’ specimens as ordered
• Schedule additional ancillary testing as needed
• May assist Registration Specialist with deposit of money and late night coverage

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR graduate of the Med Ed Program OR one (1) year of clinical experience
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas
• Registration or Certification as a medical assistant (preferred)
• One (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant or patient care (preferred)
