Provide legal advice and support primarily to TD’s Canadian Personal Bank and Wealth businesses and supporting corporate functions.
Assist in the resolution of customer issues and complaints across Canada, including matters relating to powers of attorney, estates, trusts, beneficiary designations, joint ownership, substitute decision makers, seniors and vulnerable persons.
Participate in product development, issue‑spotting and collaboration with subject‑matter experts (internal and external) to support workable business solutions.
Review internal and external materials including customer documentation, contracts, policies, procedures, job aids, customer communications and marketing materials.
Advise business partners on senior and vulnerable client matters.
Support compliance with Bank Act consumer provisions and related codes and commitments, including the Seniors Code, and select provincial statutes.
Contribute to review and advocacy on new legislation and regulation, including participation in industry forums.
Apply legal judgment and collaborate across business lines to address matters within scope and help identify emerging legal and regulatory risks.
Support knowledge sharing, team learning and Legal Department initiatives, including knowledge management and workflow improvement.
Requirements
Licensed to practice law in Ontario (or another province in Canada)
3-5+ years of experience practicing law in Canada
Experience with powers of attorney, estates, trusts and vulnerable persons laws
Ability to work in French (written and verbal) is an asset
Knowledge of financial services, provincial consumer protection, privacy and AML laws is an asset
Strong analytical, communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a solutions‑oriented mindset and sound legal judgment.
