Role Overview
Drive monthly end-to-end revenue and gross-to-net accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
Perform monthly revenue accounting, including the calculation and analysis of gross-to-net adjustments.
Support the month-end close process through the preparation of revenue, accounts receivable, and accrued expense journal entries and account reconciliations.
Participate cross-functionally with FP&A, Forecasting, Patient Access and Commercial teams to support gross-to-net forecasting assumptions and analytics.
Analyze gross-to-net trends and drivers to provide insights supporting business and financial decision-making.
Research and stay current on Medicaid and Medicare program changes impacting manufacturer rebates and gross-to-net accounting.
Lead compliance activities related to revenue and gross-to-net accounting, including ownership of SOX controls, audit support, and process documentation.
Participate in initiatives to improve scalability, automation, and operational efficiency across revenue accounting processes.
Support commercialization initiatives, including new product launches, payer contracting considerations, and evolving distribution channel strategies.
Drive process improvements by enhancing utilization of ERP functionality, streamlined reconciliations, and implementation of automation tools.
Support financial reporting activities and assist with cross-functional reporting needs as required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
CPA certification required.
7+ years of accounting experience, including exposure to ASC 606 revenue recognition requirements.
Public accounting experience preferred; Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry with understanding of pharmaceutical commercial revenue recognition under ASC 606.
Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
Ability to balance detailed execution with strategic thinking and business partnership.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and familiarity with monthly close processes and quarterly financial reporting.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis.
Power BI and Alteryx skills a plus.
Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience preferred.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to shifting business needs.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams in a remote or hybrid environment, with occasional travel to the San Diego office as business needs require.
