Define the charter, scope, and engagement model for Blue Origin’s Strategy function, including how it interfaces with business units, Sales, Corporate Development, and Strategic Partnerships
Establish and run key elements of the strategy operating system (e.g., long‑range planning inputs, annual strategy refresh, portfolio and investment reviews, metrics/OKRs, and executive cadences)
Over time, hire, develop, and lead a small team of strategists, creating a high‑performance, inclusive culture and elevating strategic capabilities across the company
Own the enterprise strategy agenda
Develop and continually refine a focused portfolio of enterprise‑level strategic questions (e.g., portfolio choices, where we must win, make/buy/partner decisions, capital allocation themes)
Lead complex, cross‑company strategy projects end‑to‑end, from problem framing and hypothesis development through analysis, synthesis, recommendations, and executive alignment
Translate Blue Origin’s long‑term vision into clear strategic priorities and roadmaps, with explicit implications for business units, capabilities, and investments
Partner with Finance and business leaders to connect strategy to resource allocation and performance management
Drive “big bets” and company‑shaping opportunities
Identify, frame, and champion 3–5 “big bets” at any given time that can materially shape Blue Origin’s trajectory
Work closely with Corporate Development on strategy‑led M&A and strategic investments, including market scans, investment theses, target screening, and portfolio fit
Partner with Strategic Partnerships and Sales to design and evaluate non‑standard partnership constructs (e.g., co‑development, strategic collaborations, warrants/rights, ecosystem plays)
Serve as a trusted advisor
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, bringing objective, data‑driven perspectives on markets, competitors, and strategic options
