Infection Preventionist

Role Overview

• Participates as part of a Network team whose job is to prevent healthcare-associated infections and the transmission of communicable diseases.
• Facilitates quality, patient safety, and regulatory functions.
• Performs detection, tabulation, evaluation, presentation, and/or control of infections occurring among hospital patients and personnel.
• Functions as a Network subject matter expert for all Infection Control and Prevention related issues.
• Performs continuous surveillance of patients and/or personnel admitted with or acquiring infections during hospitalization.
• Determines the types of infections encountered and reports any significant findings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, medical technology, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in a clinical or microbiology setting with infection control and prevention policies.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of epidemiology.
• CIC
• Certified in Infection Control
• CBINCEI
• State of Pennsylvania Within 3 Years
