Role Overview
- Patient scheduling
- Patient registration
- Review patient admitting records and extracts relevant information
- Records patient identification and demographic information in the computerized billing system
- Contacts agency representatives to verify type and extent of coverage
- Charge entry
- Performs preliminary review of source documents
- Transcribes and/or verifies data from source documents into the computer
- Balances batches by comparing batch proofs to source documents
- Works with all areas of the organization in getting any necessary documentation for patients, insurance carriers or other areas
- Completes processing of all inpatient and outpatient documents received daily
- Assists in resolving department problems with IDX billing
- Answers patient’s questions regarding statements, agency coverage, etc.
- Identifies patient accounts for collection action
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3-5 years of experience in Medical Billing, Medical Collections, Medical Billing Systems (IDX or other billing system)
- Attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office tools
