The Electromechanical Engineer will research, design, and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems for U.S. Navy submarines and carriers in support of design and construction.
This role combines technical engineering with hands-on field support, requiring collaboration with shipyard trades and engineering teams to ensure all systems meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
Support the design and development of electrical and combat systems.
Establish system and subsystem design requirements from top-level specifications.
Manage system interfaces and ensure integrated functionality.
Develop and execute verification and validation procedures.
Lead or contribute to the creation of technical deliverables and reports.
Coordinate with design, test, and construction teams.
Support power generation and distribution system design and integration efforts.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
The preferred candidate would be one that is interested in both mechanical and electrical aspects of controls systems.
Experience or coursework in one or more of the following
o Sonar Systems
o Computer/Data System Integration
o Radio System Integration
o Cabling
o Requirement Management and System Engineering Approach
o Power Distribution or Power Generation
o Control Systems
o Ability to read and understand system schematics and drawings
Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling tools.
Understanding of control systems and PID control loops.
Experience or familiarity with submarine or carrier electrical systems and propulsion plants.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven technical writing ability.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
