Mobile / UI/UX Engineer

Stanbridge University is seeking a product-minded Mobile / UI/UX Engineer to enhance student-facing digital platforms and create intuitive, mobile-first experiences. The role combines front-end and mobile application development with UI/UX design, feature ownership, and collaboration across product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive, mobile-first web applications and interfaces
• Contribute to the architecture, development, and deployment of student-facing mobile applications for iOS and Android
• Build reusable, scalable front-end components that support consistent functionality across multiple platforms
• Translate product requirements, wireframes, and design concepts into production-ready applications
• Optimize applications for performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and usability across devices
• Integrate front-end applications with APIs, authentication systems, and existing backend services
• Own the design and implementation of intuitive, engaging user interfaces and experiences
• Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity interface designs
• Establish and maintain shared design systems, reusable components, and visual standards
• Identify usability challenges and implement practical improvements based on user feedback and product requirements
• Ensure consistency in navigation, accessibility, responsiveness, and visual design across the University's digital platforms
• Balance design quality with technical feasibility, maintainability, and delivery timelines
• Collaborate directly with engineering and product stakeholders to deliver enhancements across existing and emerging digital platforms
• Take ownership of assigned features from initial design through development, testing, deployment, and iteration
• Troubleshoot application issues, improve existing functionality, and contribute to ongoing product optimization and stability
• Collaborate with backend engineers and other technical teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Participate in code reviews, technical planning, architectural discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Contribute as a hands-on individual engineer in a collaborative, AI-enabled development environment
• Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, prototyping, debugging, and delivery
• Apply sound engineering judgment when evaluating, validating, and integrating AI-generated code
• Explore emerging technologies and development approaches that improve the student experience
• Help establish efficient, repeatable development practices without compromising quality, security, or maintainability

Requirements:

• Approximately 4-7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on front-end development and experience contributing to mobile application development
• Demonstrated experience in front-end software engineering and building production-quality user interfaces
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern front-end development frameworks
• Experience with React, Vue, Angular, or comparable component-based frameworks
• Hands-on experience with mobile application development technologies such as React Native, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin, or comparable frameworks, with an understanding of native or cross-platform mobile development
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement user interfaces using Figma or comparable design platforms
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, interaction design, accessibility, and responsive, mobile-first development
• Experience integrating applications with RESTful APIs or comparable backend services
• Familiarity with Git, modern software development workflows, testing, debugging, and CI/CD practices
• Strong problem-solving skills, technical judgment, communication, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams

• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and modern engineering workflows
• Demonstrated ability and interest in progressively assuming independent ownership of mobile application architecture and development
