Data Migration & Mapping Analyst

Xcel Energy is seeking a Data Migration & Mapping Analyst for a large-scale customer data conversion program. The analyst will document source-to-target business rules and mapping specifications, and support defect triage, source remediation, and data validation across mock conversion cycles.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare for and actively participate in mapping workshops, ensuring the appropriate data stewards are confirmed and present for each object session
• Document source-to-target mapping rules, data transformations, and exceptions in a clear, structured format that developers can build from directly
• Maintain a mapping decision log that tracks open questions, agreed rules, and ownership of outstanding items through to resolution
• Review IBM functional specifications and mapping deliverables for business accuracy and alignment with agreed rules
• Support defect triage during mock conversion cycles by tracing each defect back to its root cause — whether code, mapping rule, or source data
• Track source remediation items in collaboration with data stewards and business teams, following each item through to closure
• Validate samples of converted data against legacy records and documented business rules to confirm accuracy and completeness

Requirements:

• Strong workshop facilitation skills, with the ability to draw out business rules from subject matter experts and confirm them back with precision
• SAP IS-U or SAP S/4HANA Utilities conversion mapping expertise, particularly across billing, contract account, and premise objects
• Ability to produce mapping documentation that is unambiguous and immediately actionable for development teams
• Analytical mindset for tracing data defects across code, rules, and source systems during triage cycles
• SQL proficiency for profiling, querying, and validating source and target data sets
• Familiarity with SAP migration tooling and standard mapping templates
• 5 or more years of hands-on experience in data conversion or data mapping roles
• Demonstrated experience with SAP IS-U or SAP S/4HANA Utilities conversion mapping projects
• Experience supporting or leading multiple mock conversion cycles through to cutover readiness
• Background in utility billing or customer data environments is strongly preferred
