Data Engineer (Data Quality & ETL)

EmergenceTek Group Inc. is hiring a Data Engineer to support a leading regional health plan’s data engineering team. Embedded with the client’s team, the role focuses on validating and improving ETL and data pipelines, building data-quality automation, documenting workflows and models, and developing datasets for reporting and analytics.

Responsibilities:

• Validate data movement and delivery artifacts across ETL and data streaming. Help tune and stabilize those processes
• Validate data pipelines, identify defects, and confirm they meet business requirements
• Build and maintain an automation framework that improves data quality and increases delivery throughput
• Create and maintain documentation and guardrails for data quality in line with enterprise data governance needs
• Document data engineering workflows, data models, and mission-critical enterprise ETL tasks
• Work with senior data engineers, analysts, and business customers to gather and define requirements
• Develop, modify, or propose datasets that meet reporting and analytics needs
• Improve team processes, automating where needed and providing self-service solutions where they apply
• Share technical expertise with users across the organization and mentor other data engineers

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in data analysis and data management
• preferably in a health care environment
• 3+ years of experience in data warehousing, or with data vaults (raw and business), medallion architecture, or comparable analytics solutions
• 1-3 years of experience with Azure Databricks
• 1-3 years of experience with at least one programming language
• preferably MS SQL or Python
• Experience with data mining, ETL, and medium-scale, complex datasets in a business environment
• Advanced knowledge of OLAP
• Dimensional and star schema modeling skills
• Experience developing dashboards and scorecards
• Strong verbal and written communication, able to explain complex analysis in business terms to analysts and business teams
• Understanding of automation and scripting frameworks
• Experience with Azure Data Lakes
• Experience with reporting and data tools such as SSRS, SSAS, SSMS, SSIS, Tableau, Power BI, or Informatica
• Knowledge of healthcare claims processing systems (Facets preferred), health care delivery, and medical terminology
• MS degree or Microsoft SQL Server certification
