Senior Embedded Linux Engineer - Networking

Privoro builds hardware and software for mobile security and is hiring a Senior Embedded Linux Engineer focused on networking. The role develops and troubleshoots networking for secure connected products, taking work from prototypes through production in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and troubleshoot Linux networking across wired, wireless, and mobile connectivity
• Own routing, firewall behavior, secure network tunnels, and reliable recovery from changing network conditions
• Build and maintain embedded Linux software, including platform integration, system services, and kernel-level configuration when needed
• Diagnose problems across hardware, kernel, and user space using packet captures, tracing, and hands-on debug tools
• Improve system reliability, software updates, performance, security, and automated device/network testing
• Take work from prototype to release, collaborate across disciplines, and mentor teammates

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience developing, shipping, and debugging production embedded Linux products
• Strong Linux networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, and practical packet-level troubleshooting
• Experience with an embedded Linux environment such as Yocto, OpenEmbedded, OpenWrt, Buildroot, or similar
• Proficiency with C/C++ and scripting, along with the ability to debug across system layers
• Technical curiosity, ownership, clear communication, and a methodical approach to solving hard problems
• Remote engineers are expected to have a functional home lab for hands-on embedded work - typically JTAG/SWD debugging tools, an oscilloscope and/or logic analyzer, and basic soldering capability
• Experience developing VPNs or secure networking functionality
• ARM-based platforms, boot software, board bring-up, and hardware-aware debugging
• Secure software updates, embedded security, or automated hardware testing
• Open-source contributions, side projects, home-networking experiments, or other evidence of a passion for engineering
