Senior, Software Engineering (AEM + Workfront/Fusion)

DEPT® is a Growth Invention company operating at the intersection of technology and marketing to help ambitious brands grow faster. The Senior Software Engineer will build and support Adobe Workfront, Workfront Fusion, and AEM backend solutions, integrating marketing workflows, digital assets, and external tools. The role also involves debugging integrations, documenting solutions, and helping client teams adopt the technology.

Responsibilities:

• Own your work end to end. Take a loosely defined problem, ask the right questions, plan and estimate it, then build, test, launch, and support it
• Set up Workfront the way teams actually work. Turn a client's process into templates, request queues, custom forms, approvals, proofing, access levels, and reports
• Build Fusion integrations that last. Connect Workfront to AEM, other Adobe products, and third-party tools, and handle errors so things keep running in production
• Link Workfront and AEM Assets. Set up linked folders, metadata mapping, and asset workflows so approved work lands in the DAM without anyone chasing it
• Write AEM backend code. Build workflows, Sling Models, servlets, OSGi services, and APIs that support the integration and other AEM work
• Find the real cause. Test against real use cases, and when something breaks, dig into logs, Fusion execution history, and API responses until you know why
• Help people adopt it. Write down decisions, create simple guides for users and admins, and be the go-to Workfront person for client teams

Requirements:

• 3+ years of software development experience building backend systems or integrations, including work management or business process projects for large organizations (5,000+ employees)
• 2+ years of hands-on Adobe Workfront project experience, including templates, custom forms, Workfront Fusion integrations, and connecting Workfront to a DAM such as AEM Assets
• 1+ year of hands-on AEM backend development with Java, Sling, OSGi, Sling Models, servlets, workflows, and Maven
• Adobe certified in Workfront and Workfront Fusion
• Proven experience working with REST and GraphQL APIs, JSON, and authentication when connecting to outside services
• Hands-on experience leveraging GenAI productivity tools (such as Gemini CLI, Claude)
• Proven experience turning a business process into something that works and writing it down clearly
• Familiarity with best practices using Git, pull requests, automated builds, and testing practices
• The ability to take an ambiguous problem, research independently, read logs, and debug
• The patience to dig into a problem on your own, read the logs, and trace it across Workfront, Fusion, AEM, and the systems in between
• You're easy to work with. You're an excellent communicator, take direction, push back respectfully when you disagree, speak up when you're stuck, and choose simple solutions instead of overbuilding in case you need it
• Exposure to Workfront Planning, Frame.io, Creative Cloud for Enterprise, Marketo, or AEP
• Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service, Edge Delivery Services, the Universal Editor, App Builder, or Cloud Manager
• You've delivered AEM websites or worked on an AEM migration
• Experience helping teams through change or running user training
• Hands-on experience leveraging GenAI productivity tools (such as Gemini CLI, Claude Code, or Codex) within your development workflow, alongside the drive to push their boundaries to accelerate team delivery
• A practical understanding of core LLM concepts and the judgment to identify where AI solutions create real value
