Experienced Info Security Engineer (Product Owner Role)

Principal Financial Group is hiring an Experienced Info Security Engineer in a Product Owner role to advance AI and automation across its Information Security Risk team. The role partners with security teams to prioritize opportunities, coach employees, guide the security automation backlog, and measure outcomes such as time saved and risk reduced.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with security leaders and teams to spot and prioritize high-impact automation and AI opportunities
• Teach and coach team members on AI and automation through workshops, demos, and hands-on support
• Connect teams and share what works so good ideas spread and effort isn't duplicated
• Guide the Security Automation team backlog and work with engineers to deliver solutions that can be reused
• Measure and share results, including time saved, risk reduced, and teams enabled

Requirements:

• Associate or bachelor's degree
• 3+ years' work experience
• equivalent experience
• Experience as a product owner or in a similar role, including managing a backlog and setting priorities in an Agile environment
• Hands-on familiarity with automation or workflow tools (e.g., SOAR, ServiceNow, Power Automate, scripting/APIs)
• A natural ability to influence without authority and build trust across teams
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to make technical topics approachable

• preferably in computer science, technology, engineering, or a math-related field
• Background in cybersecurity, governance/risk/compliance, IAM, or data protection
• Experience applying AI or agentic capabilities responsibly to real business problems
• Experience coaching, teaching, or leading adoption of new ways of working
