Junior Data Engineer

Rize Credit Union is hiring a Junior Data Engineer to develop and maintain data pipelines, improve data quality, and create reporting solutions. The role collaborates with business and technology partners to automate workflows and support data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL processes that transform data from multiple sources into reliable, accessible information
• Write and optimize SQL queries, support data modeling, and help maintain efficient data infrastructure and data warehouses
• Monitor data accuracy, troubleshoot pipeline issues, and help maintain the integrity and reliability of information used throughout the organization
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, SSRS, or Amazon QuickSight to help teams understand and act on data
• Identify opportunities to automate workflows, improve processes, and enhance how we collect, manage, and use data
• Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs, translate requirements into practical data solutions, and support data-driven decision-making
• Document solutions, support end users, and help team members make the most of our reporting and analytics tools

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Business, or a related field
• 1–3 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or database engineering
• Strong SQL skills, including query optimization, stored procedures, and performance tuning
• Experience developing and maintaining ETL pipelines and working with data warehouses
• Proficiency with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI, SSRS, or Amazon QuickSight
• Familiarity with data lakes, cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and data governance practices
• You're a problem-solver who enjoys digging into data, identifying patterns, and finding better ways to get things done
• You're curious and eager to learn, staying interested in emerging technologies and new approaches to data engineering
• You have strong attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate, reliable work
• You're a collaborative communicator who can explain technical concepts and data insights to non-technical audiences
• You're self-motivated and adaptable, comfortable managing competing priorities and working independently in a remote environment
• You bring fresh ideas and an innovative mindset, always looking for opportunities to improve processes and create value
• Experience in financial services is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Python or R is a plus!
