ZTPF SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Travelport develops technology used for travel bookings. The ZTPF Software Development Engineer supports the stability and reliable operation of zTPF environments through automation, monitoring, configuration, maintenance, and development, while contributing across development, quality, and implementation activities.

Responsibilities:

• Support day-to-day operations of the TPF environment
• Monitor system health and assist with troubleshooting production, pre-production and lower-level issues
• Assist with investigation and debugging efforts to identify and resolve system issues
• Participate in activities and testing new applications, enhancements, and infrastructure changes in production, pre-production and lower-level environments
• Assist with implementation activities by following established deployment procedures and execution plans
• Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles
• Develop an understanding of IBM mainframe hardware components, including HMC, DASD, CEC, and LPAR concepts
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, applications and support teams to resolve issues and complete projects
• Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and contribute to automation initiatives
• Provide 24x7 on-call availability and support on a rotating basis with other team members

Requirements:

• Experience with operations in an IBM zTPF environment
• Knowledge of IBM Z hardware and software technologies
• Understanding of the z/TPF operating system
• Good technical aptitude with problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of ITIL principles and processes
• Self-motivated with ability to multi-task and embrace an ever-changing environment, competing priorities, and high expectations
• Dedication to learning new skills and strengthening existing skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Commitment to continuing professional development
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical information in a clear and succinct manner
• Additional programming language/technologies a plus – Assembler, Java, REXX, OOREXX, Python, Linux Scripting
