Power Platform Lead - Copilot automation

BACKGROUND

Client is expanding its use of Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and Azure-based services to modernize business processes, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate AI-powered solutions. Client seeks an experienced Power Platform Architect / Technical Lead to lead solution architecture, guide engineering teams, establish development standards, and work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable enterprise solutions.

The resource will provide technical leadership across Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Dataverse, Copilot Studio, Azure services, RPA implementations, integrations, governance, security, and application lifecycle management. The role requires a strong software development background, hands-on architecture experience, and the ability to mentor technical teams while ensuring adherence to enterprise standards, security requirements, and good engineering practices.

SCOPE OF WORK

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise solutions using Microsoft Power Platform.
• Design scalable, secure, maintainable, and reusable solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Power Pages, Power BI, Copilot Studio, and Azure services.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into solution architectures, technical requirements, and implementation roadmaps.
• Design and implement AI-powered solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, generative AI capabilities, Azure OpenAI Service, AI Builder, and related Microsoft AI services.
• Architect and govern RPA solutions using Power Automate Desktop and enterprise automation practices.
• Define solution patterns, integration frameworks, security architecture, data architecture, and governance standards across Power Platform environments.
• Design integrations with enterprise systems, APIs, databases, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, and other line-of-business applications.
• Establish development standards, coding guidelines, reusable components, solution accelerators, and DevOps practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to developers, automation engineers, and citizen developers.
• Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, design reviews, and solution quality assessments.
• Support environment strategy, deployment automation, release management, and application lifecycle management (ALM).
• Design Dataverse data models, security models, business rules, plugins, custom connectors, and integration services.
• Collaborate with security, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and compliance teams to align solutions with organizational standards.
• Define monitoring, operational readiness, production support, and continuous improvement processes.
• Lead technical estimation, backlog refinement, sprint planning, dependency management, and technical risk management.
• Support knowledge transfer, technical documentation, training, and capability development across the delivery team.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Mandatory Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of enterprise application development and solution architecture experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on Microsoft Power Platform architecture and delivery experience.
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Power Pages, Power BI, and related services.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, conversational AI, generative AI experiences, knowledge grounding, actions, connectors, and AI-powered business solutions.
• Proven experience designing and implementing RPA solutions using Power Automate Desktop, including attended and unattended automation patterns.
• Strong software engineering and development background with practical experience in C#, .NET, JavaScript or TypeScript, REST APIs, plugins, custom connectors, and modern development practices.
• Experience leading technical teams, mentoring developers, reviewing code, and improving engineering quality in enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of architecture principles, design patterns, secure coding, testing, source control, and maintainable application design.
• Experience implementing continuous integration and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps or an approved equivalent platform.
• Hands-on experience with relevant Azure services such as Azure Functions, App Service, API Management, Logic Apps, Storage, Key Vault, Azure OpenAI Service, Azure Monitor, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Ability to facilitate business and technical workshops, communicate design decisions clearly, and translate business requirements into implementable solutions.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with experience working in Agile and distributed delivery teams.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Microsoft Power Platform Solution Architect certification or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect certification or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Experience with enterprise AI governance, responsible AI, security, privacy, and compliance practices.
• Experience integrating Power Platform with Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, Oracle, or other enterprise platforms.
• Experience supporting a Power Platform Center of Excellence or enterprise low-code governance program.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Solution Architecture

• Define end-to-end architecture for Power Platform, Copilot Studio, RPA, and Azure-enabled solutions.
• Produce architecture diagrams, technical designs, integration patterns, data models, security models, and deployment approaches.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, governance, and support standards.

Technical Leadership

• Lead development teams and provide day-to-day technical direction.
• Establish coding standards, review practices, reusable patterns, and engineering quality controls.
• Mentor developers and support resolution of complex technical issues.

Business Engagement

• Facilitate discovery and requirement workshops with business and product stakeholders.
• Translate business processes and requirements into solution options, technical requirements, delivery plans, and estimates.
• Explain technical choices, trade-offs, risks, and dependencies in clear business language.

Governance and Operations

• Define environment, security, data loss prevention, access, deployment, and lifecycle management practices.
• Ensure solutions address security, compliance, data protection, monitoring, auditability, and support requirements.
• Establish production readiness, operational documentation, and continuous improvement processes.
