Sr. Technical Sourcing Recruiter, Product & Engineering

Avalara is a cloud compliance and tax technology company defining the relationship between tax and tech. The company is seeking a senior technical sourcing recruiter to build diverse pipelines for Product and Engineering roles, advise hiring teams on talent markets, and deliver a strong candidate experience. The role also involves collaborating with global Talent Acquisition and Executive Recruiting teams and managing multiple technical searches.

Responsibilities:

• Build Proactive Pipelines: Design and execute advanced sourcing strategies (using Boolean search, LinkedIn Recruiter, and alternative channels) to identify, engage, and attract passive engineering, product management, and design talent
• Act as a Market Advisor: Partner with technical recruiters and engineering leaders to understand role requirements, align on target profiles, and provide market intelligence and talent insights
• Curate High-Quality Sourcing Slates: Deliver well-vetted, diverse candidate slates with speed and precision, ensuring high response and conversion rates through personalized, engaging outreach
• Elevate Candidate Experience: Deliver a white-glove candidate experience by maintaining transparent communication, sharing compelling narratives about Avalara’s technical stack and culture, and guiding candidates through initial screenings
• Collaborate on Global Initiatives: Work alongside the global TA and Executive Recruiting teams to share best practices, optimize sourcing templates, and streamline pipeline reporting and governance
• Navigate Ambiguity & Scale: Manage multiple concurrent technical searches across various product and engineering domains while maintaining high quality, consistency, and alignment with our hiring bar

Requirements:

• 5+ years of total recruiting experience, with at least 5+ years focused on technical hiring (Product & Engineering) within a global enterprise or a top-tier retained/executive search firm
• Deep technical sourcing expertise with the ability to independently build, calibrate, and refine high-quality candidate pipelines for hard-to-find technical talent at all levels
• Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of functional requirements across Product, Engineering, and related technical organizations
• Prior experience successfully partnering across time zones and cultures within a distributed, global Talent Acquisition team structure
• Strong presence and situational awareness in high-level conversations—demonstrating the ability to listen deeply, advise strategically, and influence effectively without overstepping
• Experience hiring across all business functions
• Prior work in high-growth SaaS, technology organizations or retained search
• Familiarity with recruiting and sourcing frameworks
