Senior Software Engineer - IBM Sterling (Remote)

The Home Depot is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and support highly available payment orchestration services for omni-channel orders within Customer Order Management. The role develops resilient, event-driven microservices integrating IBM Sterling OMS with payment processors and tender systems across Google Cloud and on-premises platforms, while supporting reliability, observability, and production operations.

Requirements:

• Must be eighteen years of age or older
• Experience building and maintaining distributed microservices in a production environment
• Hands-on experience developing backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot in a production environment
• Experience designing and developing APIs and integrating with external enterprise systems
• Experience working with IBM Sterling OMS, including configuration, customization, or integration
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, or IBM MQ)
• Experience building and deploying applications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments, including containerized workloads running on Kubernetes/GKE
• Understanding of secure application development and data handling practices in transactional systems
• Experience troubleshooting and supporting high-availability systems in production environments
• The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job

• Strong experience developing and supporting applications integrated with IBM Sterling OMS, including customization, configuration, and enterprise integrations
• Experience designing and implementing microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and cloud-native application architectures
• Experience with application monitoring, observability, and operational support using Grafana, log analytics platforms, and automated monitoring solutions
• Experience creating scripts and automation to support monitoring, alerting, operational diagnostics, and production support activities
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems using metrics, logs, dashboards, and tracing tools in large-scale production environments
