BIM Project Designer

GAI Consultants, Inc. is an engineering, planning, and environmental consulting firm serving transportation, infrastructure, power, and energy markets. The BIM Project Designer will design and draft MEP systems using Revit BIM and AutoCAD, establish and coordinate project models, develop drawing sets, and support project teams through design, review, permitting, bidding, and construction.

Responsibilities:

• Lead design drafting and BIM activities for Revit based efforts
• Set up Revit models and workspaces for projects
• Coordinate with external entities to assimilate BIM workspaces
• Develop and enforce Revit standards
• Build Revit content libraries and families
• Lead model clash detection and coordination processes
• Work with other designers / drafters within a project team
• Perform AutoCAD drafting and designing services
• Acquire data from site walkdown via 3D scan, measurement, or sketches. Translate that into client MEP drawings
• Check/verify drawings/models for errors and clashes
• Develop drawing sets for review, permitting, bids, or construction
• Assist with internal drafting and BIM standardization
• Collects data and gathers information or documents
• Participates in project teams and field investigations
• Develops drawings or 3D models for engineering clients

Requirements:

• 10+
• High school and technical school or training
• Possesses foundational design drafting capabilities
• Acquires basic knowledge and develops basic skills through mentored experience
• Applies learned knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks
• Performs routine technical work which does not require previous experience
• Possesses basic oral and written communication skills. Identifies and acknowledges principles of teamwork and leadership
• Interacts primarily with internal project team members
• Interacts minorly with external clients and subcontractors
