Software Quality Engineering L4

Frontdoor, Inc. is reimagining home maintenance and repair through American Home Shield and the Frontdoor app. The Software Quality Engineering L4 role partners with product, development, and cross-functional teams to validate software functionality, performance, reliability, and user experience through manual and automated testing. The role also drives quality engineering best practices, automation, test process improvements, and release readiness.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test strategies, including functional, smoke, regression, integration, and performance testing
• Create and maintain test cases with clear traceability to business requirements and technical specifications
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and analyze software defects by reviewing application behavior, logs, and system integrations
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites and frameworks to improve test coverage and efficiency
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Developers, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure quality is built into every release
• Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, tools, and methodologies, and drive quality engineering best practices
• Monitor, analyze, and communicate testing progress, quality metrics, and release readiness to stakeholders
• Contribute to test data management, environment setup, and CI/CD pipeline integration
• Mentor team members and promote a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous learning

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience in functional testing, including test planning, test case design, execution, and defect management
• Proven experience with UI test automation and a solid understanding of automation frameworks and best practices
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, JIRA, and test management tools such as Xray
• Experience testing REST APIs and protobuf-based services, including automation of API test scenarios
• Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines
• Strong programming and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Java, TypeScript, and React Native
• experience with other modern programming languages is also valued
• Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and data validation techniques
• Solid understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Defect Life Cycle processes
• Strong analytical and debugging skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot complex issues
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating effectively with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams

• Experience with performance testing, load testing, and DevOps practices
• Foundational knowledge of Agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and their applications in software quality engineering and testing
• Experience testing AI-enabled applications, machine learning models, or intelligent systems
• Salesforce Administration expertise, including user management, security and access controls, reports and dashboards, workflow automation, and platform configuration
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern software delivery practices
