Software Engineer I

OppFi is a tech-enabled digital finance platform that works with banks to provide financial products and services for everyday Americans. The Software Engineer I will develop, enhance, improve, and maintain back-end applications and services across the company’s technology platform. The role involves contributing to Java-based products, collaborating in an Agile framework, performing code reviews and testing, and implementing software best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of our product portfolio, built with Java, Docker, Amazon Web Services, and PostgreSQL
• Collaborate with business and technical professionals across the organization in an Agile framework to ensure technical systems are well-designed
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, assist in integration testing, documenting and implementing software best practices
• Continue to learn new tools and languages. We take development seriously! Our team manages our own internal training, with budgets for classes, conferences, books and materials….we want you to grow your skills with us

Requirements:

• Experience interpreting and refining our technical issues into relevant implementable requirements, to be delivered as a large-scale project from concept to production
• At least 1 year of Java or similar experience
• 1+ years of experience developing systems with Amazon Web Services technologies
• 1+ years of experience with Test-driven Development (TDD)
• 1+ years of experience building Restful APIs and consuming 3rd party APIs
• ECS/EKS experience a big plus
• Experience with Event Driven Development and Domain Driven Design are a plus if you have it
• Experience with Terraform, CI, Kubernetes and Docker are a plus if you have it
• Git experience preferred
