Cyber Security Course Instructor

Outcome School is a free technology school providing structured programs and workforce development pathways for underserved youth and minorities. The Cyber Security Course Instructor will design and deliver remote cybersecurity lessons, lead sessions and hands-on exercises, mentor learners, provide feedback, and collaborate on curriculum and learner outcome improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver remote, structured lessons that introduce learners to core cybersecurity concepts and hands-on practices
• On a day-to-day basis, you will lead live or recorded sessions, create practical exercises and projects, guide learners through labs and simulations, and provide timely feedback on assignments
• You will support learners from underserved backgrounds by offering mentorship, answering technical questions, and helping them connect course content to real-world job roles
• You will collaborate with the Outcome School team to refine curriculum, ensure alignment with workforce needs, and track learner progress and outcomes

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of Cybersecurity and Information Security principles and best practices
• Experience with Network Security concepts such as firewalls, VPNs, secure protocols, and monitoring
• Understanding of Application Security, including secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities
• Ability to explain Malware Analysis fundamentals and threat detection concepts in accessible terms
• Prior teaching, mentoring, or training experience, especially with beginners or underserved communities
• Clear communication skills, patience, and the ability to break down complex topics into step-by-step learning
• Access to a stable internet connection and capacity to deliver remote instruction consistently
• Familiarity with common cybersecurity tools and platforms (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners) is beneficial
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CEH, CISSP) or equivalent practical experience are a plus
