Software Engineer

GENER8V is seeking a part-time full-stack engineer for a focused client engagement supporting a web application approaching production launch. The role involves strengthening the application foundation, completing features, improving testing and observability, securing authentication, and preparing integration with a shared account and entitlement platform.

Responsibilities:

• Data layer and migrations: Help stabilize the database migration history, tighten the schema with constraints and indexes, and prepare for a clean production cutover
• Authentication and security: Work with Okta/Auth0 roles, organizations, and token handling, including session management and rate limiting
• Feature completion: Finish workflow features, including transactional email notifications and several user-facing UI improvements
• Observability: Introduce structured logging and error tracking so the team can see what's happening in production
• Testing: Build out backend and frontend test coverage, including end-to-end browser testing with Playwright
• Platform integration: Help prepare the application to plug into a shared account and entitlement platform

Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional experience building web applications with React and Node.js
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL: writing queries, understanding schemas, and making changes through migrations
• Exposure to Okta, Auth0, or a similar identity provider, and a solid understanding of how authentication and authorization work in a web app
• Experience writing automated tests, or a strong interest in getting better at it
• Comfort working from a written backlog, asking good questions, and communicating progress clearly
• Attention to detail. Much of this work rewards being careful over being fast
• Experience with an ORM such as Drizzle or Prisma
• Familiarity with Playwright, Vitest, or Jest
• Exposure to multi-tenant SaaS applications
• Experience with transactional email services or error-tracking tools such as Postmark or Sentry
• Experience working in Replit or other hosted development environments
• US-based candidates preferred
