Position Summary
The ERP Program Manager will provide strategic and program leadership for a large-scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) modernization and replacement initiative. The role will lead ERP planning and readiness activities and help establish the roadmap, governance, organizational structure, resource requirements, and implementation strategy necessary to transition from a highly customized legacy ERP environment to a modern enterprise platform.
The successful candidate will work closely with executive leadership, Information Technology, Finance, Human Resources, Student/Campus Solutions, and other business stakeholders to ensure the ERP initiative is positioned as an enterprise transformation rather than solely a technology project.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of the ERP modernization strategy, readiness plan, and transformation roadmap.
Develop and maintain integrated program plans encompassing ERP strategy, business process transformation, requirements, data readiness, organizational change management, procurement, solution selection, and implementation readiness.
Establish program governance structures, decision-making processes, escalation paths, roles, responsibilities, and accountability.
Coordinate activities and dependencies across Finance, Human Resources, Student/Campus Solutions, Information Technology, and other stakeholder groups.
Assess organizational capacity and identify resource and skill requirements necessary to support ERP planning and implementation.
Develop program schedules and sequencing that account for operational priorities, business cycles, dependencies, and resource constraints.
Facilitate executive and stakeholder discussions regarding ERP strategy, scope, priorities, risks, decisions, and organizational readiness.
Coordinate business process, requirements, data, integration, OCM, procurement, and technical workstreams.
Support development of preliminary budgets, staffing models, implementation approaches, and resource plans.
Support development of ERP procurement and selection strategies, including ERP solution and systems integrator selection.
Manage program risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and corrective actions.
Provide executive-level reporting regarding program status, risks, decisions, milestones, and readiness.
Ensure business stakeholders maintain meaningful ownership and participation throughout the transformation.
Minimum Qualifications
At least ten (10) years of experience managing large-scale ERP implementation, modernization, replacement, or enterprise transformation programs, including planning, execution, schedule, scope, risk, issue, dependency, and resource management.
At least seven (7) years of experience leading complex technology or business transformation initiatives involving multiple business functions, departments, or organizational entities.
At least five (5) years of experience developing and managing ERP/program roadmaps, integrated project plans, governance structures, resource plans, and implementation strategies.
At least five (5) years of experience facilitating and managing executive-level and cross-functional stakeholders, including establishing decision-making structures, resolving competing priorities, and providing executive reporting.
At least five (5) years of experience managing programs involving business requirements, BPR, data/integration, OCM, procurement/vendor activities, testing, and implementation readiness across multiple workstreams.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience leading an ERP replacement from strategy/readiness through RFP development, solution selection, systems integrator selection, and/or implementation.
Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP, Workday, PeopleSoft modernization/replacement, or comparable enterprise SaaS ERP platforms.
ERP transformation experience within higher education, California public sector, or another large decentralized public organization.
Experience leading an ERP program involving Finance, HR/HCM, and Student/SIS or similarly complex functional domains.
Experience developing business cases, cost estimates/TCO, staffing models, implementation sequencing, or ERP modernization budgets.
PMP, PgMP, Prosci, SAFe, or comparable professional certification.
