Hydro Mechanical Engineering Specialist

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an experienced Hydro Mechanical Engineering Specialist to join its Water and Hydropower team. The role provides engineering consulting services for hydropower clients, leading and supporting mechanical balance-of-plant systems, equipment upgrades, pumped storage projects, feasibility studies, and related engineering and design work.

Responsibilities:

• Produce mechanical system designs including P&IDs, equipment sizing, detailed design, and system calculations
• Prepare equipment and design specifications
• Prepare, review, and PE stamp calculations, drawings, reports, etc., related to mechanical systems
• Independent Engineering reports associated with today’s Federal and State Hydro Tax incentives
• Perform equipment and contractor bid evaluations (on conformance with technical requirements)
• Perform inspection, investigation, and condition assessment of existing hydropower and dam projects including review and surveillance of monitoring data
• Provide field support during installation, testing, and start-up
• Perform alternatives analysis, feasibility studies, and conceptual design evaluations
• Support pumped storage concept studies, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies
• Prepare project engineering cost estimates
• Assist with client presentations and preparation of client proposals
• Provide operations & maintenance and asset management program recommendations for mechanical systems
• Serve as a client manager and operate in a seller-doer environment

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required
• 8 + years of related hydropower experience required
• EIT (Engineer-in-Training) Certification is required
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions
• PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred
• Previous experience in a client-facing role is preferred
