EverHealth - Lead Software Engineer (Remote, US)

EverCommerce provides integrated SaaS solutions for service-based businesses, while its EverHealth business delivers healthcare technology and revenue cycle management solutions. The Lead Software Engineer IV will lead the end-to-end development of an AI-enabled RCM task-management platform, including user interfaces, backend services, APIs, event-driven workflows, and data models. The role also involves technical leadership, stakeholder collaboration, mentoring engineers, and promoting secure, HIPAA-compliant AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of a full-stack RCM worklist platform, from the user interface through backend services, APIs, and the data model
• Build and evolve event-driven services and workflows that route, prioritize, and track work across people and AI agents
• Design and maintain the API and translation layer that connects the platform with EverHealth products, our clearinghouse, and third-party systems
• Build the application code that invokes, coordinates, and monitors AI agents, including guardrails, human review steps, and observability
• Own data modeling and schema design, writing performant SQL and making effective use of ORMs
• Partner directly with end users, product, operations, and business leaders to understand workflows, define problems, and measure outcomes
• Share ownership of technical direction and engineering standards, and mentor engineers through code review, pairing, and design discussions
• Champion AI-assisted development across planning, design, coding, testing, review, and operations
• Build secure, reliable, HIPAA-compliant software backed by strong testing, monitoring, and operational practices
• Help identify and evaluate new opportunities for automation, AI, and new experiences across the EverHealth portfolio

Requirements:

• • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leading technical direction for a team
• • Strong full-stack engineering skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or equivalent languages, with a track record of shipping production systems across UI, backend, and APIs
• • Experience designing and building event-based systems, such as message queues, event streams, and asynchronous workflows
• • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with modern databases, ORMs, and schema design
• • Proficient and productive in leveraging AI across all aspects of the software development lifecycle
• • A product engineering mindset focused on solving problems and delivering outcomes, not just technology
• • Ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, including end users and business leaders, and translate their needs into working software
• • Comfort working on a small team with high ownership and an evolving scope
• • Strong written and verbal communication skills
• This role can be based anywhere in the United States

• • Experience integrating LLMs or AI agents into production software, including orchestration, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop workflows
• • Healthcare/RCM experience, such as claims, EDI 837/835, eligibility, denial and A/R workflows, and HIPAA
