AI Research Engineer

Elio is building next-generation sensing systems that combine advanced optics and AI to transform light into structured, actionable information. The AI Research Engineer will bridge AI research and software engineering by developing production-ready AI systems, leading engineering practices, and building scalable data, training, evaluation, and deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the software engineering efforts within the AI and Data Science team
• Design, develop, and maintain production-quality AI infrastructure, libraries, and services
• Collaborate closely with AI researchers to transform research prototypes into scalable, maintainable, and reusable software
• Define and promote software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, documentation, version control, CI/CD, and coding standards
• Build robust data processing, model training, evaluation, and deployment pipelines
• Optimize AI systems for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability
• Partner with software, infrastructure, and product teams to integrate AI capabilities into Elio's platform
• Mentor team members on software engineering principles and contribute to a strong engineering culture
• Evaluate and introduce modern AI development tools, frameworks, and infrastructure that improve team productivity
