Associate Growth Marketer - Audience & Lifecycle

Search Engine Journal is a search and marketing media business reaching search and marketing leaders. The Associate Growth Marketer will support broad marketing initiatives before taking ownership of audience growth, email, lifecycle programs, membership acquisition, and sponsor campaign performance.

Responsibilities:

• Grow, segment, and retain our subscriber base
• Run the email program: campaigns, automation, and reader journeys
• Bring in net-new readers from outside our bubble through newsletter swaps, partnerships, and creator collabs, at a cost you can defend
• Use every channel we have to do it: social, the podcast, our webinars, the site itself
• You'll start by running the strategies we set together, and take over setting them as you go
• Build the acquisition funnel out of the audience you're growing, plus onboarding, lifecycle, and retention
• Support member programming alongside editorial and our experts
• Help the campaigns we run for advertisers hit their lead numbers, and turn strong results into rebooks
• Run the paid pushes behind them, working from the VP's plan
• Sit on sponsor calls and talk honestly about how campaigns are performing

Requirements:

• A digital marketing generalist first. Comfortable across email, analytics, social, and content; deep in at least one, and fluent in the math behind all of them (cost per subscriber, cost per lead)
• Email is a must. You've grown a subscriber base, not just scheduled sends: a list you built, a newsletter you run, a lifecycle flow you can walk us through. Where you did it matters less to us than that you did it. Side projects and scrappy stuff count
• You love to test. Set the KPI before you start, run the test, report what you learned. We're a testing team that lets the data settle the argument
• A relationship-builder. Comfortable reaching out to partners, creators, and publications to make a deal happen, and equally comfortable sitting on a sponsor call talking about performance
• AI-native. You already use AI in your work and you're genuinely excited to run alongside a pod of agents we're actively building
• Scrappy, entrepreneurial, a self-starter. High EQ, low ego
• Genuinely useful to the people you support. You're organized, you close loops without being chased, and you'd rather ask a sharp question than guess. You bring ideas to the work you're handed, and you don't need to own something to care about it
