Senior Software Engineer-Own Brand Product Systems

H-E-B is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support critical business capabilities across the organization. The role focuses on modernizing and enhancing the Own Brand Product System, delivering software solutions, supporting infrastructure and production operations, and leading AngularJS-to-Angular migration efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Works on technology projects and initiatives with limited guidance
• Designs, develops, tests, and deploys production-ready software solutions
• Writes high-quality, maintainable code that addresses security, performance, scalability, reliability, and edge cases
• Leads and contributes to the modernization of legacy applications, including AngularJS-to-Angular migration efforts
• Helps establish migration strategies, identifies technical risks, and recommends best practices for application modernization
• Creates, configures, and supports build and deployment pipelines
• Leads coding, testing, debugging, maintenance, and enhancement of existing and new systems
• Supports and troubleshoots complex production incidents and participates in on-call support as needed
• Leads root cause analysis efforts and drives implementation of corrective actions
• Contributes to the management and support of application infrastructure and supporting technologies, including messaging platforms, caching technologies, and virtualized environments
• Ensures system monitoring, observability, and alerting adhere to engineering best practices
• Reviews technical designs and architecture to ensure quality, maintainability, scalability, and long-term sustainability
• Identifies dependencies, risks, blockers, and technical challenges and proactively communicates mitigation plans
• Collaborates with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet organizational objectives
• Mentors team members and promotes a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and documentation
• Leads team ceremonies and larger engineering initiatives
• Drives improvements to engineering processes, tools, and development practices
• Influences technical decisions and helps align team priorities with broader organizational strategy
• Fosters collaboration across teams and effectively manages cross-functional dependencies

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software engineering or software development experience
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications
• Experience with modern software engineering tools such as Git, Jira, and Confluence
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• Experience supporting production systems and participating in production support activities
• Experience with both Angular JS and Angular.
• Experience leading or contributing to AngularJS to Angular migration initiatives.
• Proficient in multiple programming languages, frameworks, and software development technologies
• Advanced knowledge of software architecture, system design, data modeling, and application design patterns
• Comprehensive understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles
• Ability to evaluate technical solutions for performance, maintainability, scalability, security, and reliability
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies and engineering best practices
• Ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence technical direction within a team
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve highly complex production issues
• Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, assess tradeoffs, and make sound technical decisions
