Volunteer Position: Co-Head of Research, AI 2030

AI 2030 is a global nonprofit initiative focused on Responsible AI, AI for Good, and AI for All. The Volunteer Co-Head of Research will co-lead the organization’s global research agenda, oversee high-impact research and publications, develop grant proposals, and build partnerships with academic, industry, policy, and international organizations.

Responsibilities:

• Co-develop and execute a research roadmap aligned with AI 2030’s mission
• Identify and prioritize flagship research themes such as:
• AI Workforce Development
• Responsible AI governance & frameworks
• Ethical deployment of Generative AI
• AI for Good applications (climate, health, financial inclusion)
• AI for All (equity, inclusion, accessibility, workforce impact)
• Oversee research design, methodology, and publication quality
• Grow and guide the AI 2030 Research Community, including fellows, volunteers, academics, and industry contributors
• Facilitate working groups, research sprints, roundtables, and expert convenings
• Mentor emerging researchers and Responsible AI leaders
• Shape research components of local, national, and global grant proposals
• Lead drafting of research narratives and evidence-based frameworks
• Support philanthropic, government, corporate, and foundation-funded opportunities
• Ensure alignment between proposals and AI 2030’s long-term research roadmap
• Build and manage strategic partnerships with:
• Universities and academic labs
• Think tanks and global policy organizations
• Industry partners and R&D teams
• International institutions and public-sector agencies
• Co-develop joint research projects and consortium initiatives
