Salesforce Data Cloud Engineer, Audience & Activation (Data 360), Remote Contract

NextActiv is an outcome-focused marketing strategy and cloud services firm that helps clients unlock the potential of customer engagement. The Salesforce Data Cloud Engineer owns the upstream customer data pipeline by configuring Data Cloud, building unified profiles and audience segments, and activating them into Marketing Cloud and other destinations. The role also manages data quality, identity resolution, governance, documentation, and client requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Configure data streams and map source data into the Data Cloud data model (DMOs)
• Build and tune identity resolution rulesets so profiles resolve to the right person
• Maintain unified profiles, calculated insights, and derived attributes that feed segmentation
• Build, test, and refine audience segments using the segmentation canvas, calculated insights, and identity-resolved profiles
• Activate segments into Salesforce Marketing Cloud as sendable data extensions, and into Sales Cloud, Loyalty Cloud, and external destinations such as paid media
• Set up the downstream data extension structures in Marketing Cloud Engagement that activated audiences land in
• Own the Data Cloud to Marketing Cloud handoff end to end. Validate segment readiness before it reaches a journey
• Monitor activation pipelines and resolve sync failures, record-count discrepancies, identity mismatches, and activation delays
• Keep consent, privacy, and data governance intact across every segment and activation
• Translate client requirements into segment definitions, including audience criteria, exclusion logic, and frequency rules
• Document segment logic and activation setup so the work is repeatable
• Partner with the Marketing Cloud journey architect so audiences arrive in the shape journeys need

Requirements:

• 3+ years hands-on with Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360), with real implementations from ingestion through activation
• Direct experience with data streams, data model mapping (DMOs), identity resolution rulesets, calculated insights, and computed traits
• Proven segment build and activation experience, including activation into Salesforce Marketing Cloud
• Working knowledge of Marketing Cloud Engagement data architecture: data extensions, subscriber keys, and how activated audiences behave once they land
• SQL for audience logic and validation
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or GCP, and with zero-copy data sharing
• A strong QA instinct. You can trace data from source through identity resolution, segmentation, and activation to isolate a problem
• Clear written communication. You document what you build
• U.S. citizenship or permanent work authorization (for example, Green Card holders). No visa sponsorship available
