Product Manager

Ulteig is a purpose-driven engineering organization focused on transforming critical infrastructure across power, renewables, transportation, and water. The Product Manager will lead automation initiatives for renewables substation and battery energy storage systems, owning product strategy, roadmaps, backlogs, delivery, adoption, and stakeholder collaboration. The role translates business needs and customer insights into digital products and measurable outcomes through agile and data-driven practices.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and Frame Problems: Proactively engage with stakeholders and internal users to uncover, define, and articulate the most pressing technical challenges and opportunities. Ensure that product efforts are anchored in a deep understanding of the underlying problems, not just proposed solutions. Use research, data analysis, and direct feedback to validate problem statements before moving to solution design
• Define Product Vision & Roadmap: Own the 6 to 12-month product roadmap, ensuring alignment with Ulteig’s strategic objectives and customer needs
• Translate Vision into Action: Convert product strategy into clear requirements and actionable plans for design automation solution products
• Build the Business Case: Justify new features and initiatives by linking them to measurable business goals (e.g., “reduce manual data entry by 10 hours/week”)
• Validate MVPs and Early Concepts: Define requirements for minimum viable products, prototypes, and pilot solutions, and use stakeholder and user feedback to test concepts before broader investment or rollout
• Own the Product Backlog: Create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog, including writing clear features, requirements and defining acceptance criteria
• Support Daily Execution: Serve as the dedicated “go-to” person for the delivery team, answering questions, clarifying requirements, and making rapid prioritization calls
• Accept Completed Work: Review and accept completed user stories, ensuring they meet acceptance criteria and deliver intended value
• Manage Releases: Coordinate with the team and stakeholders to plan and communicate product releases
• Develop and Maintain Key Artifacts: Maintain product requirement documents, customer journey maps, voice of the customer analysis, product analytics, and business impact dashboards
• Storytelling: Crafting compelling narratives that align diverse teams (business services, engineering, sales, and design) behind a single product vision
• Relationship Management: Align multiple team dynamics to build trust and drive alignment across competing interests
• Leading Through Ambiguity: Support product team morale and focus when strategies change rapidly due to new information or business priority
• High emotional intelligence:
• Support Continuous Improvement: Champion technology adoption and process improvements within assigned product areas
• Drive Product Adoption: Partner with stakeholders to support adoption of new products, processes, and ways of working through change planning, communication, and adoption activities
• Monitor Product Performance: Use dashboards to track ROI, adoption, and business impact
• Define & Track Success: Establish and monitor KPIs and metrics that define success for your product
• Incorporate Market and Competitive Insights: Monitor industry trends, competitive offerings, and market signals to inform product strategy, prioritization, and decision-making
• Manage Stakeholder Expectations: Act as the primary point of contact for your product, managing stakeholder expectations and communicating product vision and roadmap to business stakeholders
• Support Progress Communications: Partner with the delivery lead to support communication of delivery progress, key updates, and outcomes to stakeholders
• Conduct ‘Customer’ Research: Regularly meet with users and stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, and needs
• Engage Cross-Functional Partners: Collaborate with business services teams and other partners to gather requirements, resolve issues, and drive alignment
• Drive Enablement and Client Engagement: Partner with stakeholders to develop product messaging, and support demos and presentations
• Represent Product Value Clearly: Communicate product value propositions clearly and professionally to all stakeholders to reinforce benefits and support product adoption
• Contribute to Team Culture: Foster innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the product team
• Continuous Learning: Actively seek and act on feedback, participate in ongoing learning, and work toward shared team goals

Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering, Design, Business Management, or other related fields; consideration will be given to relevant experience
• Requires 5+ years of experience in design-related fields; hands-on automation, digital design, or BIM experience preferred
• Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent projects and workstreams while meeting aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with extensive project planning and execution skills
• Excellent problem-solving and relationship building skills
• Strong communication skills, written, verbal, and interpersonal
• Knowledge and proficiency in the primary design authoring and supporting software platforms that will be utilized for these applications
• Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement
• Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S
• hands-on automation, digital design, or BIM experience preferred
• Knowledge of web applications is preferred
• Knowledge of data structures (AI architecture, SQL, API understanding, and data pipelines) is preferred
