Principal Business Analyst, Portfolio Management

Mission Lane is a purpose-driven fintech company that uses data, technology, and exceptional service to help people make financial progress. The Principal Business Analyst will shape credit management strategies for existing customers, determining eligibility for higher credit lines, second cards, and better terms. The role involves analyzing financial data, running market tests, collaborating cross-functionally, and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Lead efforts to decide who qualifies for more credit, a second card, or better terms, and how we make those calls
• Use AI-driven tools to speed up and sharpen your analysis
• Adjust our approach as customer behavior and the market change
• Turn financial data into clear recommendations that grow the business while managing risk responsibly
• Run small tests in market, then use what you learn to decide where we invest next
• Work with product, data science, engineering, and capital markets to bring your ideas to life
• Share your strategy and results directly with senior leadership

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience in a highly analytical role
• A bachelor's or master's degree in economics, finance, engineering, mathematics, or a similarly quantitative field, with a strong academic record
• A track record of solving open-ended business problems: framing the question, forming a hypothesis, working through the data, and defending your recommendation to stakeholders
• Comfort working in SQL, Python, or similar tools for data analysis
• Ability to travel ~4-6+ times per year for high quality in-person collaboration
• Experience working with credit cards or other consumer lending products
• Experience helping scale a business in a fast-moving startup environment
• Strong SQL or Python skills
• Experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, etc.)
