Sr. DevOps Engineer

Cloudelligent is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead delivery for two managed services pods supporting customers’ AWS environments. The role combines hands-on cloud operations and FinOps with customer relationship ownership, team leadership, and continuous improvement in reliability, security, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Work hands-on in customer AWS environments every week: troubleshoot and resolve incidents, implement changes, write infrastructure as code and automation, and carry out FinOps optimizations yourself
• Own delivery for your pods’ customers end to end: sprint planning, change and pull-request review, spot checks on engineering work, and delegation across the team
• Run a consistent customer cadence, including weekly operational touchpoints and a monthly value review that shows what the customer received and what comes next
• Drive continuous value for every customer: maintain a living roadmap per account, bring forward cost, reliability, security and modernization improvements each quarter, and show the measurable results
• Act as the senior point of contact for customer escalations and executive conversations, without routing them to Cloudelligent leadership
• Own operational health for your pods: on-call rotation, incident response and root-cause analysis, SLO and MTTR reporting per customer, patching and vulnerability-scan coverage
• Drive adoption of our AI-enabled operations tooling and automation so the team spends less time on manual, repetitive work
• Make sure findings from tooling and reviews become tracked, prioritized work items, and that backlog quality meets our standards
• Lead FinOps reviews with customers: analyze spend and usage trends, identify savings (rightsizing, Savings Plans and Reserved Instances, storage and data-transfer optimization, waste cleanup), present recommendations to technical and financial stakeholders, and track realized savings
• Establish cost governance with customers, including tagging and allocation standards, budgets, anomaly alerts and regular cost reporting
• Identify expansion opportunities (new workloads, security assessments, modernization) and hand them to the account team. You are not carrying a sales quota
• Lead and develop your team: coaching, performance feedback, certification planning, time approvals and capacity forecasting
• Ensure security and compliance practices are implemented and maintained across customer environments
• Improve our managed services runbooks, onboarding process and operating standards as the practice scales

Requirements:

• Based in the United States and authorized to work in the US
• Bachelor's in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in cloud operations, DevOps or SRE on AWS
• 2+ years leading a managed services, MSP or cloud operations team, including responsibility for customer outcomes
• Experience leading distributed or offshore engineering teams across time zones
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with a track record of running customer meetings, executive reviews and difficult conversations
• Hands-on experience leading FinOps or cloud cost-optimization engagements, including presenting findings and savings to customer stakeholders
• Experience running incident management, on-call rotations and root-cause analysis in a production support environment
• Comfortable working from metrics: SLOs, MTTR, backlog, utilization and customer health
• Currently hands-on: you build, troubleshoot and automate in AWS yourself today, and want to keep doing so while leading a team
• Self-driven, with sound judgment and the ability to operate without day-to-day direction
• Strong hands-on AWS operations experience across compute, networking, identity, storage and security services
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK) and CI/CD workflows
• Observability and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, Honeycomb, Datadog, Grafana or OpenTelemetry, and paging tools such as PagerDuty
• ITSM and work-tracking tools such as Jira and Jira Service Management
• Strong AWS cost management: Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, Compute Optimizer, Trusted Advisor, Savings Plans and Reserved Instances, and third-party FinOps platforms
• Experience securing cloud environments against cloud-native standards and supporting audits such as SOC 2
• Familiarity with containers and orchestration (ECS, EKS or Kubernetes)
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, SysOps Administrator or DevOps Engineer – Professional
• FinOps Certified Practitioner
• ITIL 4 Foundation
• Experience using AI or agentic tooling in cloud operations
