Senior Software Engineer

Posit PBC empowers people and organizations to conduct trustworthy data analysis through its on-premises Posit Team platform. The Senior Software Engineer will build and deliver new product capabilities at the intersection of data science, infrastructure, and AI, while planning features, collaborating with teammates, and driving measurable customer value.

Responsibilities:

• Ship code changes that meaningfully improves the experience for our customers
• See your changes reflected in our public releases
• Participate in feature planning and provide feedback
• Feel comfortable navigating the codebase and understand how things fit together
• Plan features and drive their development
• Have a track record of teaching team members; both from your expertise and things you learn as you build
• Have a track record of learning: both from the things you learned and taught us along the way; and from listening to internal users, external users, and how our customers use our products
• Point to new features you built that we hadn’t even dreamed were possible

Requirements:

• You are an enthusiastic generalist who thrives in the face of ambiguous requirements—an engineer who is just as good at starting things as you are at finishing them

• When something important feels daunting or underspecified, your first instinct is to prototype to clarify the value you can deliver, rather than wait for someone to give you the answers

• Proficiency in either Go or Typescript as well as in either Python or R, and experience with backend systems, data tooling, and data science frameworks are helpful for this role

• Prior domain expertise with data science as a practice may help, but it is not the only way
