Associate Software Engineer

Tria Federal delivers digital services and technology solutions supporting the health and safety missions of veterans, service members, civilians, and federal agencies. The Associate Software Engineer will build full-stack, AI-enabled tools and platforms, experiment with agentic AI and retrieval-augmented generation techniques, support embedded program teams, and document technical learnings.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build full-stack features spanning Angular frontends and Node.js/Fastify backend services for Tria Labs' internal AI products
• Experiment with emerging agentic AI frameworks and RAG techniques, and help evaluate what's worth adopting across the team
• Build and maintain configurable, reusable front-end and back-end components
• Work with both structured (SQL) and unstructured/vector data sources to power AI-driven features
• Support program teams on embedded assignments, building AI tooling suited to their specific mission needs
• Document technical learnings clearly enough for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. citizen due to the security clearance required for this position
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
• 1–3 years of experience building and deploying full-stack web applications with Node.js
• Experience with a modern frontend framework (React, Angular, Vue, Svelte, etc.)
• Working familiarity with both relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases
• Some exposure to AWS services in a production or side-project context
• A self-starter mentality, including curiosity to experiment with new tools and frameworks, and the ability to communicate what you learn to the team
• Angular preferred
• Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns and vector search
• Exposure to agentic AI development: building agents that plan, reason, and orchestrate multi-step workflows
• Experience with AWS Bedrock or another LLM provider integration
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, ideally AWS CDK
• Experience with Fastify or a similar Node.js backend framework
• Understanding of graph databases is a plus
