Mechanical Engineer II – Structural Analysis

Voyager Technologies is a defense, national security, and space technology company developing mission-critical solutions for ground-to-space applications. The Mechanical Engineer II – Structural Analysis will ensure the structural integrity and performance of advanced solid rocket propulsion systems while collaborating with an interdisciplinary engineering team. The role involves stress analysis, structural dynamics, and integration of CFD and thermal analysis methods into structural analyses.

Responsibilities:

• Perform stress analysis of complex hardware systems utilizing both first principles concepts and FEA software, interpret and validate analysis results, and provide recommendations to improve product design
• Perform structural dynamics of multibody systems to identify critical modes, assess the response of the structure when subjected to random vibration and shock loading, and provide recommendations to improve product design
• Understand fundamentals of CFD and thermal analysis methods and techniques, and how to incorporate these physics models within structural analyses

Requirements:

• Familiarity with mechanical design concepts related to high precision hardware
• Familiarity with the physics of solid rocket motor systems
• An ability to interpret engineering drawings with an understanding of GD&T fundamentals and to utilize basic functionality of CAD software
• An ability to effectively communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college/university with 2 - 4 years of experience OR Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 0 - 2 years of experience OR PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 0 years of experience
• Travel up to 10% of time
• Experience working in a fast-paced space and defense industry environment
• Experience with solid or liquid rocket propulsion technologies
