Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Bechtel Corporation is a global engineering, construction, and project management company serving infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, and technology markets. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will investigate project requirements, develop cost estimates, lead HVAC and mechanical design activities, resolve technical issues, and coordinate engineering efforts across project stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small size project or assignment in support of a global business unit​or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications​
• Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​
• Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals​
• Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups​
• When delegated, provides guidance to other mechanical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects​
• Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues​
• Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution​
• Mentors and assists more junior mechanical team members​
• Completes mechanical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance​
• Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability​

Requirements:

• Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent), with minimum 10 (ten) years of industry experience in Dry / HVAC systems
• In depth knowledge of equipment packages such as Air Handling Systems, Air Condensing units, Variable Air, Volume Units and Cleanroom Recirculation Air and Exhaust Systems
• Applicant should be able to identify specific industry and technology experience
• Good working knowledge of International standard for cleanrooms and associated controlled environments (ISO 14644 1 thru' 14), Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST-RP-CC001, 002, 006, 007, 012, 021, 034) for Cleanrooms and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), SMACNA and International Mechanical Code (IMC) standards for HVAC and Air Handling Units
• Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline
• Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations
• Thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including construction practices and the economics involved
• Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines
• Able to troubleshoot issues in a field or job site setting confidently, and to provide instruction on how to resolve issues identified
• Demonstrated ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks
• Working knowledge of 3D model / BIM with experience in supporting designers with HVAC duct layouts, supports, and controls requirements in Revit and Navisworks
• Experience in Semiconductor, Pharma or AI Datacenter projects is an added advantage
