Development Engineer - Renewables

Ulteig is an engineering organization focused on developing integrated solutions for critical infrastructure, including power and renewable energy projects. The Development Engineer will support the early-stage design of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery projects by developing engineering plans, details, and reports, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, guiding design staff, and engaging with clients. The role also involves design review, value engineering, constructability and risk evaluation, and support for business development activities.

Responsibilities:

• Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete engineering tasks, and supports other civil, structural, and electrical design workflows as necessary on a case-by-case basis
• Develops plans, details, and reports that are complete, accurate and in accordance with sound utility-scale renewables early-stage development engineering practices
• Works closely with and provides guidance to engineering technicians and design engineers
• Engages with clients to understand their priorities, relying on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish project goals while exceeding client expectations
• Checks design and computations performed by internal design team and provides ideas and executes to promote higher quality designs. · Reviews development plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk considerations
• Maintains a value engineering mindset throughout design
• Works closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines
• Works closely with clients to understand nuanced technical needs and identify best feasible solution(s)
• Supports marketing, sales and business development activities within assigned market
• Demonstrates a wide degree of out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and design ownership

Requirements:

• B.S. in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent is required
• Successful Completion of Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, is required, NCEES Council Record is preferred
• Minimum of 4-6+ years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 3+ years of experience in design of utility scale renewables preferred
• Experience in civil land development or electrical power systems design as an alternative to renewables experience strongly considered
• Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D is required
• Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Must have permanent authorization to work in US
