Staff Data Engineer - GCP

Velocity Tech has partnered with an exciting Health Tech company in the US who are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join. This role involves designing and owning scalable data architectures on GCP, leading the development of ETL/ELT pipelines, and establishing best practices in data governance and quality.

Responsibilities:

• Design and own scalable, production-grade data architectures on GCP
• Lead the development of robust ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data stack tools
• Build and optimise data warehouses and lakehouse architectures (e.g. BigQuery)
• Establish best practices in data modelling, governance, and data quality

Requirements:

• 8+ years in data engineering or related field, with experience at Staff or Senior level
• Strong experience with GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer)
• Expertise in Python and SQL for data processing and pipeline development
• Experience building distributed data systems and handling large-scale datasets
• Strong understanding of data modelling techniques (e.g. dimensional modelling)
• Experience with orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow / Cloud Composer)
• Solid understanding of streaming and batch data processing
