Data Engineer

Capgemini is seeking an experienced Data Engineer with a strong background in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly BigQuery, and expertise in DBT for data transformation and modeling. The ideal candidate will possess advanced SQL skills and a solid understanding of data warehousing principles, along with leadership experience and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines within the Google Cloud Platform ecosystem, with a primary focus on BigQuery
• Develop, manage, and optimize DBT models to transform raw data into clean, validated, and well-documented datasets
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, reporting, and analytics
• Architect and support enterprise-scale data warehousing solutions that prioritize performance, scalability, and reliability
• Partner closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data pipeline performance issues while ensuring data quality and integrity
• Automate operational processes and data workflows using Python where appropriate
• Implement and maintain data governance, security, and compliance best practices
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to team members and project stakeholders

Requirements:

• Demonstrated leadership experience in data engineering or related technical initiatives
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline
• 6-8 years of experience in Data Engineering or a comparable role
• Expert-level SQL skills with the ability to develop efficient, scalable, and complex queries
• Strong proficiency in DBT for data modeling, transformation, testing, and documentation
• Hands-on experience with BigQuery and other GCP data services
• Solid understanding of modern data warehousing concepts, architectures, and best practices
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and workflow support
• Experience with version control systems such as Git
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
