DevOps Engineer

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to support the modernization and deployment of a critical government information system. The role involves automating deployment processes, managing artifact repositories, and orchestrating infrastructure upgrades while planning migration to AWS cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments
• Automate deployment processes across development, staging, and production environments
• Manage Nexus Repository for artifact storage and dependency management
• Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions using CloudFormation and/or Terraform
• Build and maintain Apache Solr clusters with ZooKeeper in production environments
• Administer Windows Server environments and orchestrate infrastructure upgrades
• Plan and execute migration strategies from on-premises VMware to AWS cloud infrastructure
• Configure and manage AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, and related components
• Develop containerization strategies for Java applications
• Implement configuration management tools and practices
• Apply security controls in both on-premises VMware and AWS cloud environments
• Monitor system performance and implement optimization strategies

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines
• Nexus Repository management experience
• Building and maintaining Apache Solr clusters with ZooKeeper in production environments
• Strong expertise in Windows Server administration
• Strong expertise in AWS cloud services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudFormation/Terraform)
• Infrastructure-as-code practices
• Active Top Secret/SCI with CI Polygraph
• Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience
• Master's degree with 7 years of experience
• No degree with 13+ years of experience
• Containerization strategies for Java applications
• Configuration management tools
• Implementing security controls in both on-premises VMware and cloud environments
