This is an exciting opportunity to lead Barnet’s Pension Fund team, ensuring the effective management, governance and administration of the Council's Pension Fund.
As Head of Pensions, you will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of the Pension Fund, acting as the Council's senior pensions professional and leading on the delivery of a robust, transparent and high-performing LGPS service. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the Pension Committee and Local Pension Board, ensuring the Fund remains compliant, well-governed and positioned to meet future challenges and opportunities.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will be part of a collaborative senior leadership team and will contribute to the wider financial management of the Council. You will also deputise for senior finance colleagues where required and provide expert advice to Members, senior officers and key stakeholders.

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking finance professional with knowledge of Local Government Pension Scheme regulations, pension fund accounting, governance and investment management. You will be an effective leader with a track record of building positive relationships, influencing at senior levels and driving continuous improvement.
You will be CCAB qualified (or possess equivalent relevant experience) and have significant experience operating at a senior management level. With excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills, you will be able to translate complex technical issues into clear and practical advice, supporting informed decision-making across the organisation.
