PV Design Manager

MARS Energy Group is seeking a PV Design Manager to lead the design and development of photovoltaic electrical drawing packages for solar energy projects. The role involves hands-on design responsibilities along with team leadership, ensuring high-quality deliverables and effective management of the design staff.

Responsibilities:

• Design complete electrical PV drawing packages using AutoCAD, including site layouts, single-line diagrams, electrical plans, equipment layouts, and construction details
• Develop and maintain AutoCAD detail libraries and standardized electrical installation details
• Create and revise PV system drawings to meet project specifications, customer requirements, and applicable codes and standards
• Review project designs for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with company standards
• Coordinate with engineering teams to incorporate design changes and project updates
• Manage and prioritize daily workloads and schedules for PV Designers
• Monitor project timelines and ensure design deliverables are completed on schedule
• Assign tasks and balance resources across multiple projects
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to design team members
• Conduct quality reviews of design work and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain accountability within the design team and ensure project milestones are achieved
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, permitting teams, and installation personnel to support project execution
• Participate in project planning meetings and provide design status updates
• Assist in resolving design-related issues encountered during permitting, procurement, or construction
• Support the development and implementation of design standards, procedures, and best practices

Requirements:

• Associate degree required, preferably in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in PV system design, electrical drafting, or a related field
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
• Strong understanding of photovoltaic system design and electrical construction practices
• Ability to create and maintain detailed electrical installation drawings and standards
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements and solar industry standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project management tools
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead teams, establish priorities, and ensure accountability
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in an office environment for extended periods
• Occasional travel to project sites may be required
• Ability to review technical drawings and work on computer-based applications for extended durations
• Previous experience leading or supervising a design team
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
• Experience with commercial, industrial, or utility-scale solar projects
