Senior Machine Learning Engineer

InfoStride is seeking a Machine Learning Research Engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation AI models within a frontier AI research environment. This role is focused on research and involves onboarding open-source machine learning models, implementing published research, and building large-scale data-curation pipelines.

Responsibilities:

• Onboard open-source machine learning models and integrate them into internal workflows
• Build data-curation pipelines using open-source ML models
• Implement techniques and models described in machine learning research papers
• Develop Python scripts to efficiently parse and download large datasets from the web
• Write SQL queries to process, organize, and analyze large datasets
• Perform qualitative analysis of data used to train advanced AI models
• Write high-quality, efficient, scalable, and maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
• Troubleshoot and debug machine learning applications, GPU systems, and infrastructure
• Investigate ML infrastructure, GPU, CUDA, and memory-related issues
• Ensure applications meet quality, reliability, and performance standards
• Document applications, processes, and technical findings
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
• Lead or contribute to cross-functional technical projects

Requirements:

• Master's degree or PhD in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 6+ years of equivalent experience in research engineering, machine learning engineering, or systems/software engineering involving ML implementation
• At least 2 years of hands-on machine learning experience
• At least 2 years of experience processing large-scale datasets
• At least 2 years of experience leading or supporting cross-functional projects
• Strong programming experience with Python
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch
• Proficiency in writing SQL queries
• Experience working with Linux systems and shell scripting
• Experience implementing machine learning models or published research
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Experience working on large-scale software or machine learning projects
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
• PhD with a machine learning or artificial intelligence research focus
• Research experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Large language models
• Multimodal language models
• Computer vision
• Video or audio machine learning
• Natural language processing
• Publications or presentations at leading machine learning, computer vision, or NLP conferences
• Experience contributing to or implementing open-source research
• Experience with GPU-based machine learning systems
• Experience with CUDA, infrastructure debugging, or memory debugging
• Experience developing ML infrastructure or ML backend systems
• Experience with web scraping and parsing large datasets
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
• Familiarity with frontend or backend software development
