Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Plan Reviewer

Bengal Engineers LLC is a growing civil engineering and land surveying consulting firm providing professional engineering and consulting services to public and private sector clients. They are seeking a highly experienced Electrical and/or Mechanical Plan Reviewer to perform independent technical reviews of engineering plans and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive technical reviews of electrical and mechanical engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and supporting documents
• Evaluate designs for compliance with applicable engineering standards, building codes, regulations, and industry best practices
• Prepare clear, well-organized, and technically defensible review comments
• Verify that revised plans adequately address previous review comments
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams when necessary
• Maintain consistency, accuracy, and quality throughout the review process
• Complete reviews within established project schedules

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
• Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering experience, including significant experience performing engineering plan reviews
• Extensive experience reviewing commercial, residential, institutional, industrial, municipal, or public infrastructure projects
• Previous experience conducting plan reviews for local, county, state, or other governmental agencies is highly desirable
• Familiarity with Maryland engineering codes, regulations, and permitting requirements is strongly preferred
• Experience with plan review processes in other states will also be considered
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is strongly preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience reviewing building systems, utility infrastructure, site development, or public works projects
• Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), International Building Code (IBC), NFPA standards, and other applicable engineering codes and standards
• Experience using Bluebeam Revu or similar electronic plan review software
