The Field Support Section delivers daily operational support for the Washington State Patrol (WSP) and its mission-critical statewide voice and data communications systems. These systems serve not only the WSP but also partner agencies and other public safety customers across the state.
The Wireless Communications Systems Technician 4 is a senior-level technical expert responsible for 24/7 maintenance, installation, and support of WSP public safety communications equipment. This includes digital and analog microwave radio systems, land mobile radio base stations and repeaters, voting systems, dispatch consoles, and other specialized electronic equipment essential to agency operations. The Wireless Communications Systems Technician 4 also serve as regional subject matter experts, providing advanced maintenance, installation, and support for mobile and portable two-way radios and a wide range of additional electronic support systems. In addition, the Wireless Communications Systems Technician 4 may be assigned system-level administration and monitoring responsibilities for highly complex radio and network environments, including multi-site networks, microwave paths, trunked radio systems, encryption management, and overall system optimization.
