Fire Protection Designer (Remote) Senior Level

Mullins Mechanical is a rapidly growing specialty contractor specializing in design-build applications and fire protection. They are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Designer with expertise in fire sprinkler system design and code compliance to manage multiple projects from concept through completion.

Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs and layout drawings using HydraCAD Software
• Perform hydraulic calculations and material take-offs in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes
• Review architectural, structural, and mechanical plans to ensure proper system coordination
• Prepare submittals, fabrication drawings, and as-built documentation
• Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to ensure design intent and code compliance are achieved
• Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance as needed
• Stay current with updates to fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, etc.)
• Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction)

Requirements:

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in fire sprinkler or fire protection design
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, and/or Revit
• In-depth knowledge of NFPA, FM Global, and other related standards
• Strong understanding of building and fire codes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects
• NICET Level III or IV in Water-Based Systems Layout
