A vacancy exists in the Office of Budget and Finance, Accounting Division.

Under general supervision, supervises professional accounting staff in the Office of Budget and Finance.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, economics, or a closely related field.

Four years' professional experience in accounting or auditing and possession of a license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
(Education in accounting beyond a bachelor's degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years for the required experience.)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Entry Level):
Thorough knowledge of accounting, cost accounting, and auditing theory, principles, practices, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of automated accounting systems. Knowledge of government organizations and accounting systems and practices. Knowledge of grant and capital accounting.
Skill in maintaining complex accounting records. Skill in analyzing accounts, ledgers, journals, and other accounting records and statements. Skill in preparing statistical reports.
Ability to plan, direct, and supervise professional staff in a specialized accounting unit. Ability to assist in the development of accounting systems. Ability to conduct complex accounting, financial, and procedural studies. Ability to interpret laws, codes, and standards. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Full Performance):
Thorough knowledge of County organization and budgeting system. Thorough knowledge of County accounting systems and practices. Thorough knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and standards. Thorough knowledge of County and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing performance of duties.

Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) issued by the Maryland State Board of Accountancy is required within six months of appointment.
